Main responsibilities     

Markets

Has an awareness of the range of services offered by Grant Thornton ORBIT Solutions and the relevant personnel to contact within the firm.

Identifies and communicates opportunities to Director or ICA.

Clients

Meet the demands of clients, producing deliverables on a timely basis.

Completes assignments on a timely basis.

Maintain a good working relationship with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and work with client management and staff at all levels to perform audit services.

Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve audit-related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements. 

People

Presents a professional image of the firm.

Establishes good working relationships with colleagues.

Acts as a team player to ensure high quality client service.

Balance normal workflow and demands of professional exams.

Ask for feedback on own progress and applies it going forward.

Operations

Exercises professional scepticism.

Exercises alertness and diligence in executing assigned tasks.

Leads the risk assessment and planning meetings and makes notes to produce minutes.

Prepares appropriate documentation to support work done.

Prepares/reviews the budget for assignments.

Delegates work to members of the audit team

Responsible for the quality of the audit documentation including the work prepared by other accountants.

Tailors the Voyager file in consultation with the Lead Partner

Modifies audit procedures in Voyager to reflect the entity's situation in consultation with the Lead partner.

Responsible for the quality of the audit documentation including the work prepared by other accountants.

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the audit to ensure completion within budget and agreed timetable.

Completes the planned audit work to satisfy professional standards, the audit objectives and support the report.

Has joint responsibility with the manager to see that appropriate commentaries are prepared, and that the conclusion reached support the audit report.

Prepares and/or reviews report drafts.

Reviews working papers and financial statements.

Complete all conclusion/wrap up documents and ensure the file is ready to be archived before the deadline date.

Promptly notifies the In Charge Executive of any problems of a technical, administrative, or personnel nature that need action and suggest solutions.

Provide appropriate OJT so that less experienced staff understands their responsibilities.

Supervises the work of other accountants on the audit team.

Become an expert in all relevant GT methodologies, tools and accounting and auditing standards.

Any other work assigned by the In Charge Executive

Qualifications

Secondary school education including the attainment of at least five (5) ‘O’ including English Language and Mathematics and/or two (2) ‘A’ levels   ACCA qualified.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of updated IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, ISAs and established internal standards and procedures.

Experience 3-4 years’ experience in an accounting environment or equivalent

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
